Recently, “Guangxi Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Pilot Research Base of New and Intelligent Engineering Structures”constructed by Guangxi University (GXU) was approved for one in the 4th batch of pilot research bases for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, according to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Science and Technology Department website. With this approval, it becomes the first provincial-level science and technology achievement transformation pilot research base led by Guangxi University. This will contribute to the construction of the "Double First-Class" discipline in civil engineering and the construction of the State Key Laboratory of Safety for Characteristic Metals and Composite Structures co-established by Guangxi and Ministry of Education.

Guangxi Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Pilot Research Base is a research and development entity for conducting intermediary amplification tests of scientific and technological achievements. It serves as a platform for industrial technology innovation research and pilot maturity services. The construction goal of the pilot base is to provide mature, applicable, and complete technology for large-scale production by enterprises, transforming scientific and technological achievements into tangible productivity. It aims to support high-quality development of the industry with high-level scientific and technological supply. The Research Base is led by Guangxi University and jointly built with Guangxi Academy of Green Low-Carbon Technology Research Co., Ltd., Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Guangxi Communications Investment Group Corporation Co., Ltd. With the important support of Guangxi University's world-class discipline in civil engineering, it focuses on the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the major strategic development of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. The base conducts research achievement transformation in areas such as new processes, new materials, and new methods. It focuses on long-span bridges, complex structural stress loading, and intelligent monitoring and evaluation. This work provides core technical support for major bridge projects, leads the innovative development of long-span bridge construction technology in Guangxi, radiates the ASEAN region, and eventually becomes an international platform for academic-industry-research cooperation and transformation in the field of long-span bridge innovation technology. It enhances GXU's ability to root in the Guangxi and serve national strategies and regional economic development.

This year, research teams from the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Light Industry and Food Engineering of GXU have also participated in the construction of the "Guangxi Sugarcane Production Equipment Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Pilot Research Base" and the "Guangxi Sugarcane Sugar Industry Resource High-Value Utilization Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Pilot Research Base" jointly with Guangxi Agricultural Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Gan Hua Group Co., Ltd., which have been approved and recognized.
