On July 7, the first New Energy Automotive Development Forum was held in Guangxi University. Wang Naixue, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional CPPCC and Secretary of the Guangxi University CPC Committee,  met with Professor Chen Qingquan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and  Member of the British Royal Academy of Engineering. Participants attending this forum included Professor Chen Yong , foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering from School of Mechanical Engineering , Zhu Qidong, Vice Chairman of the Association of Science and Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, 10 top experts and scholars in the field of new energy automobile at home and abroad from Hong Kong University, Zhejiang University, Tongji University, and representatives of outstanding new energy automobile enterprises in Guangxi, such as Guangxi Yuchai, GAC Group. Professor Xiao Jianzhuang, vice president of Guangxi University, delivered an opening speech and issued appointment letters to members of the Academic Committee and Technical Committee of the New Energy Automotive Research Center of Guangxi University.

Professor Xiao Jianzhuang mentioned that Guangxi University would use its own advantages in scientific and technological research to promote the development of new energy automobile. He hoped that this forum could strengthen cooperation between academia and industry.

At the forum on advanced power system technology of new energy automobile, Academician Chen Qingquan delivered a report entitled "Innovation of electric drive in new energy automotive". He stated that scholars should designate directions for enterprises from a macro perspective and use the Intelligent Vehicle Infrastructure Cooperative Systems (IVICS) to promote the development of new energy automotive drive systems. He also mentioned that researchers should have forward-looking and humanistic thinking, and grasp the development direction of the automotive industry from an international perspective.

During the forum, the seminar on high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry in Guangxi and the first meeting of the Academic Committee of the New Energy Automotive Research Center of Guangxi University were also held. Mr.Zhu Qidong raised earnest expectations for high-quality development of Guangxi's new energy automobile industry and emphasized that academic conferences should play an important role in cultivating innovative talents and promoting the development of industry, academia, and research. Professor Xiao Jianzhuang pointed out that Guangxi University attaches great importance to the development of new energy vehicles, will continue supporting construction of related disciplines and the research, strive to promote the deep integration of new energy automotive technology research and industrial application with the goal of achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.

The forum was hosted by the New Energy Automotive Research Center of Guangxi University and the School of Mechanical Engineering of Guangxi University. It was conducted simultaneously offline and online. More than 300 teachers and students attended the meeting, along with more than 75000 online participants.
