Press conference on observation results of Vela pulsar wind nebula X-rays polarization

On December 22, 2022, Team of Astronomy, Space Science and Technology, Guangxi University published the observation result of Vela pulsar wind nebula X-rays polarization, Theoretical Limit of Vela pulsar wind nebula X-rays polarization Approaching Synchrotron Radiation in the international top journal "Nature". The press conference was held on its result in the University Media Center.

Wang Xianggao, executive director of the Scientific Research Institute of Guangxi University, introduced the Astronomy and Space Science and Technology Team of Guangxi University and relevant research background. The achievement was introduced by its first author, Associate Professor Dr. Xie Fei.

Over the years, under the leadership of Prof. Liang Enwei, distinguished professor as Yangtze Scholar, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund and dean of School of Physical Science and Technology, Guangxi University, the team of Astronomy and Space Science and Technology, Guangxi University has been focusing on first level with ambition, and relying on Guangxi Key Laboratory of Relativistic Astrophysics, a major scientific innovation base in Guangxi. The team has also taken great technical breakthroughs and engineering tasks for servicing the National Deep-Space Exploration Strategy as its own mission, and carries out research on major scientific frontiers of astrophysics. Based on the efforts above, the team has made scientific research achievements in the fields of High-Energy Space Astrophysics and its detection technology, Time-Domain Astronomy and Compact Object Astrophysics, Particle Astrophysics and its detection technology, Black Hole Physics and Gravitational-wave Astronomy, Interstellar Medium and Radio Astronomy.

In the past five years, the team has undertaken 10 key projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation, special projects for major scientific research instruments and major key projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The team has published more than 400 SCI high-level papers, with the research reaching international advanced level. The team has built a high-level time-domain astronomical observation platform, and made a series of important achievements based on international cooperative satellites such as  IXPE, X-ray polarization telescope, Fermi space high-energy exploration satellite and Swift, Gamma-ray burst observation satellite. The team undertakes major scientific projects in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Chinese Space Station. Moreover, the team has built the ground VHF signal base for monitoring satellites in variable source in the China-France cooperative space , and hosted key research projects based on the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) and the "Insight" satellite of Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT). The team has also made major scientific discoveries based on the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) and Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST).
