April 30th, Party Committee and People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held a conference in Nanning to celebrate the International Labor Day and commend labor models and advanced workers in the autonomous region in 2024. Prof. Dr. Meng Yongjun from the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Guangxi University was honored title of Outstanding Worker of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Meng Yongjun, a professor and doctoral supervisor, was honored the title of "Outstanding Engineer of Guangxi" in 2022 and the National "Standard Science and Technology Innovation Award" for Outstanding Young Talent. In 2023, he was selected as a leading young scientific and technological innovation figure in the transportation industry in Guangxi. His research achievements have been included in the Major Technological Innovation Achievements Library of the Ministry of Transportation. In response to the national Belt and Road Initiative, he led a team in collaboration with universities in Vietnam, Pakistan, and others to publish the bid-winning cooperative standard "Technical Regulations for Modified Asphalt Pavement with Recycled Aggregate Modification T/CECS-930 2021". This standard was identified as internationally advanced (highest level). In 2021, the standard "DBJ/T 45-061-2018 for Recycled Aggregate Modified Asphalt Pavement" edited by him won the first prize in the "Standard Science and Technology Innovation Award" project (CECS2021-C-009).

To commend the outstanding individuals, set examples, vigorously promote the spirit of model workers, labor spirit, and craftsmanship spirit, create a good atmosphere of respecting labor and laborers, stimulate the enthusiasm for labor and innovation among the masses, and inspire people of all ethnic groups in the region to actively participate in the practice of building a splendid Guangxi in the new era, the Party Committee and People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region decided to honor the title of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Labor Model to 321 individuals and the title of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Outstanding Worker to 174 individuals.
