On June 13th, a visiting delegation from the Hong Kong Association of Youth Development, led by Ye Deping, Senior Lecturer at the Education University of Hong Kong, President of the Hong Kong History and Culture Society, Founder of the Hong Kong Association of Youth Development, and Head of the visiting delegation, accompanied by Qin Dingjian, Committee Member of the CPC United Front Work Department of the Autonomous Region and Vice President of the Guangxi Overseas Friendship Association, Li Yuhong, Standing Committee Member and Level Ⅱ Bearu Rank Official of the Guangxi District Committee of Communist Youth League of China, and Wu Jinrong, Member of the Leading Party Member’s Group and Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Office of the Autonomous Region Government, visited Guangxi University. Ma Xianli, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of GXU, accompanied the visit and attended the Guangxi University Exchange Conference on the Guangxi Hong Kong Macao Youth Exchange Program and the Guangxi Humanities and Science and Technology Innovation Exploration Tour of Hong Kong Macao Youth Visiting the Motherland.
Ma Xianli delivered a welcome speech to Hong Kong compatriots, detailing the achievements of Guangxi University's Double First Class construction, its firm roots in the land of Guangxi and our proactive integration into the national strategy, as well as its experience, practices, and achievements in cultivating well-round students. He stated that Guangxi and Hong Kong are close neighbors who share a friendly bond between us and have similar languages and customs. As a leading university in Guangxi, Guangxi University attaches great importance to communication and cooperation with universities in Hong Kong. This event would help promote two-way communication among students from Guangxi and Hong Kong, as well as exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi University and institutions and universities in Hong Kong.
Ye Deping introduced the details of the visiting delegation. He said that during this visit, he learned about the history of Guangxi University, deeply felt the profound cultural connotations of it, and appreciated the charm of Guangxi's ethnic characteristics and intangible cultural heritage. He believes that more Hong Kong students will come to Guangxi, and also warmly welcomes teachers and students from Guangxi University to come to Hong Kong for exchanges.
Liu Yuhong stated that young people in Hong Kong and Guangxi should strengthen communication and interaction, serve as promoters of exchanges between Guangxi and Hongkong, and constantly facilitate comprehensive exchanges and deep integration between the two regions, bringing their exchanges and cooperation to a new level. The staff in Guangxi District Committee of the Communist Youth League and Guangxi Youth Federation will continue to be the confidants of the young, assistants in their work, and guidance in their study. Fully leveraging organizational advantages, we would actively integrate social resources, continuously expand communication approaches, and strive to build communication platforms.
Qin Dingjian stated that nearly 5000 young people from Hong Kong and Macao have participated in the Guangxi-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Exchange Program since its launch in 2021. This activity has become a brand event for youth exchange among the three regions. He hopes that through this exchange, students can enhance their sense of identity, belonging, and responsibility towards their motherland, comprehensively understand the development of China, strive to be the driving force for the stable and far-reaching implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, actively integrate into the overall development of the country, and help promote the exchange and cooperation among Guangxi, Hong Kong, and Macao to a new level.
Yao Chuyan from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Ou Yunni from the Education University of Hong Kong, Chen Yunjie, a undergraduate student from the School of Business, and Li Li, an undergraduate student from the School of Agriculture, delivered speeches at the meeting as student representatives. The heads of the United Front Work Department of CPC GXU Committee, Youth League Committee, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office, and other units participated in the events.
It is reported that the visiting delegation consists of 39 teachers and students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong. On the first floor of the Student Activity Center, students of GXU, in ethnic minority costumes, wore embroidered balls for the visitors from Hong Kong and performed bamboo dance. The students from Hong Kong also checked in on landmark buildings such as the auditorium of GXU in pairs with students at campus.
