On January 23, Guangxi University (GXU) Hosts Academic Seminar for State Key Laboratory of Featured Metal Materials and Life-cycle Safety for Composite Structures at Yulin Hall, Junwu Building. Prof. Yu Wenjin and Prof. Xiao Jianzhuang, vice presidents of GXU, attended the seminar which was hosted by the Assistant to the President, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs and Head of the Development Planning Department.
Prof. Xiao Jianzhuang extends a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the participants. He pointed out that the laboratory, building on the existing work foundation, should make persistent efforts in talent introduction and cultivation, scientific research, discipline construction, university-industry collaboration, platform construction, institutional mechanisms, etc. He emphasized the need to continue to work steadfastly to promote the high-quality construction and development of the state key laboratory jointly built by the provincial and ministerial authorities.
Prof. Yu Wenjin delivered a report on the latest policies and trends regarding talents from the national, regional, and university perspectives during the meeting. He encouraged laboratory members to actively apply for various talent programs while providing guidance and ideas for GXU's talent introduction efforts.
Leaders of the laboratory reviewed the overall situation of its construction in 2023, covering aspects such as improving mechanisms, promoting organized research, enhancing platform conditions and security capabilities, strengthening the construction of talent teams, and reinforcing open exchange and collaboration.
The principal investigator of the laboratory's major scientific and technological project provided academic exchanges on the progress of the project in 2023.
The experts present gave full recognition to the progress of the state key laboratory co-constructed by province and ministry. They offered specific suggestions on material design, research methods, and application scenarios. The on-site academic discussion was enthusiastic.
This conference invited relevant experts from materials and structural engineering fields of universities such as Tsinghua University, TongJi University, Hefei University of Technology, and others. Additionally, experts from enterprises such as ALG Aluminium lnc., and Guangxi Communications Design Group Co., Ltd., participated in the meeting both online and offline.
