From May 24 to 26, the 21st Academic Annual Conference of the China Technical Association of Paper Industry, co-sponsored by Guangxi University(GXU) and China Technical Association of Paper Industry, took place in Nanning. The event was attended by esteemed individuals such as Zhang Chonghe—former Deputy Director of the Central Editorial Office and Secretary of the Party Committee and President of China Light Industry Federation, Qian Guijing—former Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Key State-owned Large Enterprises at the State Council and former Vice president of China Light Industry Federation, Chen Kefu—Academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at South China University of Technology, Wang Shuangfei—Academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at the School of Light Industry and Food Engineering of GXU, Liu Huanbin—former president South China University of Technology, Yang Shuguang—Deputy Secretary-General of China Light Industry Federation and Director of The Party Construction and Personnel Department, and Cao Zhenlei—Chairman of the China Technical Association Paper Industry. The conefrence was attended by nearly three hundred people, including experts and scholars from provincial-level (regional-level/city-level) papermaking societies, universities and research institutes, representatives from enterprises，public institutions and China Technical Association of Paper Industry.
During his keynote speech titled "Biotechnology to help Green Development: Opportunities Challenges & Exploration", Academician Wang Shuangfei highlighted biotechnology's role in clean pulping energy conservation efficient production. He emphasized innovative biological pulping/papermaking technology based on synthetic biology chassis technology.

Professor Nie Shuangxi from the School of Light Industry and Food Engineering of Guangxi University was invited to make a special report on the annual meeting entitled "Design and Advanced Application of triboelectric Special Paper". Associate professors Qian Guangfu and He Qian, who were selected by the China Association for Science and Technology Youth Talent Promotion Project, respectively gave a report at the Youth Academic Special Session.
At the 9th Member Congress of the China Technical Association of Paper Industry and the celebration of its 60th anniversary, Academician Wang Shuangfei was elected as the Honorary Director of the 9th Council of the China Paper Society Senior Expert Advisory Committee. Additionally, Professor Qin Chengrong from College of Light Industry and Food Engineering of GXU was elected as Vice Chairman, and Professor Nie Shuangxi was honored with the "China Paper Society CAI Lun Youth Science and Technology Award".
The China Technical Association of Paper Industry is a national, academic, non-profit social organization voluntarily formed by pulp and paper science and technology workers and related units. It serves as a bridge between the CPC and the government for pulp and paper science and technology workers, playing an important role in promoting development within this field in China. Since its establishment in 1964, it has consistently facilitated domestic and international academic exchanges along with scientific investigations within pulp and paper making disciplines. The association has also contributed significantly to discipline development, independent innovation promotion, technological achievement transformation within the paper industry sector, thus making outstanding contributions to high-quality development within China's paper-making industry.
The "Cailun Award," established by the China Technical Association of Paper Industry, aims to recognize and honor the scientific and technological workers in China's paper industry who have made exceptional contributions to scientific and technological innovation and progress. The award seeks to stimulate and mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of its members as well as national paper science and technology workers, ultimately promoting modern paper science and technology innovation and progress. By strengthening the impact of scientific and technological innovation, the award also aims to facilitate the high-quality development of China's paper industry. It is considered the highest level of social recognition in the field of pulp and paper science and technology in China.
