Welcome to our program. Guangxi University (hereinafter GXU) is a national “211 Project” construction  university,   a “double first-class” construction  university,   and the co-construction  university of the Ministry of Education and People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which enjoys favourable educational resources and teaching environment. The School of Electrical Engineering (China-ASEAN Institute of Energy) was founded in 1938, which is located in  Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi. With a beautiful scenery, Nanning is known as the “Green City of China” .  It  is  also  a  frontier  city  in  China’s  opening-up  and  cooperation  with  ASEAN.  With  authority  to  offer  Master  and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering, the School has national  first-class undergraduate program,  that is, Electrical Engineering and Automation. In terms of teaching faculty, the School has national-level teaching groups, national-level teaching platforms,  and well-equipped teaching environment and advanced infrastructures.

China Southern Power Grid Company Scholarship is a full scholarship and co-founded with GXU to jointly cultivate the undergraduates in Electrical Engineering and Automation as well as the post-graduates in Electrical Engineering in order to meet the needs of developing its business in ASEAN countries.

The relevant information of our program is listed as follows:

1. Admission and Funding

Note: (1) You can directly apply for program learning if your Chinese proficiency is up to HSK4 or above. In that case, you don’t need to learn Chinese for 1 year. Accordingly, you can’t enjoy 1 year scholarship for it. (2) The language for teaching is Chinese except for the first year for learning Chinese.

2. Program Length and Semesters

The Bachelor’s Degree Program lasts 4 years, while Master’s Degree Program, 3 years.

There  are  two  semesters  in  GXU:  the Spring and  the Fall. The Fall semester is the new beginning of a new academic year, usually from September to the following January. The Spring semester is usually from February to June.

3. Required Qualifications of Applicants

(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid personal ordinary-type passports.

(2) Applicants  should be exclusively from ASEAN countries  or the  sponsored international students by China Southern Power Grid Overseas Projects.

(3) Applicants  should  be  physically  and  psychologically  healthy  in  line  with  our  physical examination requirements for study, resident, or visa application.

(4) Master’s Degree Program applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in China.

(5) Applicants should be friendly to China, diligent, well-behaved, of good character, be willing to abide by China’s laws and regulations, and without criminal record.

(6) Master’s Degree Program applicants ’ Chinese proficiency should be HSK4, 180 points or

above .

(7) Bachelor’s Degree Program applicants should be born after September 1, 1994. For Master’s Degree Program, after September 1, 1990.

4. How to Apply

Our programs are now under application. The new academic year will start on Aug. 26, 2025. Please read the following instruction carefully, if you would like to apply for.

During online application, you can begin when you open your own account via your email box. Then you need to choose “China Southern Power Grid Company Scholarship” from the list. You need to submit the following documents in the application system.

Please submit the following specified No.  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9 documents if you apply for Bechelor’s Degree Program.

Please submit the following specified No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 documents if you apply for Master’s Degree Program.

(1)  Passport photo (dressed in dark color clothes against the white background)

(3)  Scanned passport bio page and the visa one

(4)  HSK4 certificate or above (Applicants are required.)

(5)  Your highest degree (The original copy should be notarized, and the Chinese and English translated versions are needed.)

(6)  The  transcript  for your highest  degree  (The  original  copy  should be notarized,  and the Chinese and English translated versions are needed.)

(7)  Two   Letters   of   Recommendation   by associate   professors    in  Chinese   or English

(Master-level applicants are required.)

(8)  Study plan (Master-level applicants are required.)

(9) Non-Criminal Record Certificate

5. Evaluation and Admission

It takes  at least 4-8 weeks to issue your  acceptance letter upon receiving your  application. During that period, we will inform you to submit all the necessary materials we need. Guangxi Power Grid Company will jointly evaluate your application, and organize essential interview. If you are accepted, we will do our upmost to send you the acceptance letter and its relevant documents as soon as possible.

6. Visa Application

You can go to the Chinese Ambassy in your home country to apply for your student visa with your  acceptance  letter  and visa  application  form. When you  arrive at  GXU,  you will  apply  for Residence Permit. With that, you can legally study and live in China.

Note: The Residence Permit is your KEY document during your stay in China. Upon paying your tuition fees, GXU will help apply for it.

7. Deadline

Please submit your application before (Beijing time) 24:00, on June 30, 2025 so as to ensure the orderly conduct of teaching activities.

8. The Relevant Information of the Scholarship

Our  funding  includes  tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and insurance. The living expenses include living subsidies, part of out-patient medical expenses, physical examination fees, visa/residence permit fees, lump-sum settlement allowance, transportation fees, application fees for HSK4/5, and textbook fees.

9. Accommodation

GXU provides 4-person dormitory for international students who apply for Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree Programs.
