Recently, Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) held the 23rd International Collaboration Meeting, and Associate Professor Huang Yongbo of the School of Physical Science and Engineering Technology of Guangxi University won the “JUNO Young Researcher Award”.
It is reported that the award was established in 2019 to award one young researcher who has made important contributions to JUNO each year. Candidates are subject to competitive internal nomination and a rigorous review process by the Group. The award is an important recognition of JUNO.
The JUNO International Cooperation Group was established in July 2014. At present, its members include 74 universities and scientific research institutions from 18 countries and regions, and the number of members reaches 700. Guangxi University is one of the first batch. The Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment is the second large-scale neutrino experiment hosted by China after the Dayawan Nuclear Reactor Neutrino Experiment. As a large scientific facility co-built by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guangdong Province, it has a wealth of physical targets, which measures the mass ordering of neutrinos, accurately measures neutrino mixing parameters, and also studies atmospheric neutrinos, solar neutrinos, supernova neutrinos, and terrestrial neutrinos.
