Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China released an announcement regarding the evaluation results of centrally submitted project applications for the year 2023. Guangxi University has been granted a total of 152 projects across various categories of the National Natural Science Foundation, excluding the joint fund projects which are yet to be disclosed. This marks a significant increase of 16 projects compared to the year 2022, representing a growth of 11.8%. The number of approved projects has reached an all-time high for GXU.

Among the approved projects, there is one significant international (regional) collaborative research project, 24 general projects, 40 projects for young scientists fund, and 87 regional science fund projects. In a year-on-year comparison with 2022, there has been an uptick of 1 project in the general category, showcasing a growth rate of 4.3%. The projects of young scientists fund have witnessed an increase of 3 projects, reflecting an 8.1% growth. Notably, the regional science fund projects have surged by 13, marking an impressive growth rate of 17.6%. The top five schools in terms of the number of approved projects are the School of Resources, Environment and Materials; the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture; the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; the School of Agriculture; and the School of Animal Science and Technology.
