On August 15, "2023 Softech Academic Ranking of World Universities" was officially released, and Guangxi University made remarkable progress, rising from the global (501-600) rank in 2022 to the global (301-400) rank, for the first time among the top 400 in the world, and at the same time, it also jumped into the 51-68 rankings of domestic universities.
At present, Guangxi University is in full swing to promote a new round of "double first-class" construction and "ministry and provincial co-construction" of the new development stage. In the face of the new situation and new tasks, GXU firmly roots in the land of Guangxi, actively plans, realizes concentration and mobilization of all staff with the "double first-class" spirit of innovation and creation, striving for the first place and comprehensive first-class, gathers collective strength so that Guangxi University could coordinate well construction of world-class civil engineering discipline, construction of world-class university and "ministry and provincial co-construction" work and implement of a series of innovative initiatives creatively.
After two years of joint efforts of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture,construction "world-class disciplines" has achieved better results, in addition to large-span arch bridges and steel-pipe concrete hybrid structures to continue to maintain international leadership in the field, to achieve national key laboratories, internationalization of the construction of innovation and intellectual base, presided over the development of national technical standards and international standards ISO breakthroughs. In addition, the number of high-quality achievements in personnel training, the number of high-level talents, the number of high-level research projects and results, and the number of projects serving the national and local strategic needs have achieved : The annual average number of awards won by students participating in national high-level discipline competitions is 2.7 times that of the first construction period, and the annual average number of high-level papers published by postgraduates is 2.2 times that of the first construction period. In 2022, the number of national talents is 2.7 times that of 2020, and the number of provincial and ministerial talents is 2.2 times that of 2020. The total number of approved National Natural Science Foundation projects and Youth projects in 2021-2022 far exceeds the total number of approved projects in the four years of the first construction period (2017-2020). The number of service landmark projects is 3.2 times that of the first construction period.
The University gives full play to the leading role of "world-class disciplines" and the joint establishment of first-class subject groups by departments and regions, and has made great progress in the construction of "world-class university", doubling the output of high-level achievements, the number of superior disciplines, the number of local projects served, the number of high-level talents, and the funding for scientific research and education. It has achieved several breakthroughs, such as being elected academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, winning the State Key Laboratory for first-class disciplines, winning the subject innovation and intellectual introduction base, publishing papers in Nature as the first unit, obtaining the authorization to formulate ISO international standards for the first time, and students winning the gold medal of the international "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
