Cheng Liang, an Academician of the Australian Academy of Engineering, invited to The Junwu Forum

On May 10th, the Junwu Forum invites Prof. Dr. Cheng Liang, an academician of the Australian Academy of Engineering, to deliver a lecture on the subject of "Ensuring Safety and Stability in Submarine Cables" to faculty and students of Guangxi University. The report was presided over by Han Linhai, President and Deputy Secretary of the Guangxi University Party Committee.

President Han Linhai warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. Cheng Liang to deliver lectures at our school. He emphasized that Guangxi University places great emphasis on the construction and development of disciplines related to Marine Engineering, enhances the cultivation of talents in the field of Marine Engineering, upholds the integration of science and education, promotes the transformation of cutting-edge professional engineering, and strives to expand both the breadth and depth of applications in Marine Engineering.

In the report, Prof. Dr. Cheng Liang presented the design concept of ensuring safety and stability in submarine cables, provided detailed explanations on technical challenges such as seabed erosion and stability design methods for rocky seabeds, proposed a range of innovative solutions, and actively engaged with teachers and students by addressing their questions on-site.

Prof. Dr. Cheng Liang, Dean of the School of Marine Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology, holds the prestigious position of "Reliance" professor and is an esteemed Academician of the Australian Academy of Engineering. He has dedicated his career to conducting extensive research in subsea pipeline stability, vortex-induced vibration analysis for marine structures, sediment transport mechanisms, seabed fluid-solid interaction dynamics, as well as computational fluid dynamics simulations for various industrial fluids.

The report was attended by over 300 teachers and students from the Research Institute, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Resources, Environment and Materials, School of Computer and Electronic Information, School of Oceanography, as well as the School of Physical Science and Engineering Technology.
